It's been a busy week in Grade 3FI. The class has been working on writing personal narratives, thinking about the virtue of respect, creating and describing patterns, reading personal narratives in English, and books about collaboration in French. We celebrated our first school Mass on Monday, the Feast of the Holy Cross. We are working on a top secret video project in French as a class. Our first Math assessment is almost complete, and a rubric with feedback will be coming home early next week.
On Wednesday, we had our first Pod Buddies session of the year. Pod Buddies is a French Oral Language activity where we bring together all of the Grades 3 to 6 FI students to learn together. This week, we reviewed the purpose of this program, established our goals, and engaged in a partner activity, creating riddles about items found at school. The Grade 3FI students were paired with students from the other two classes, and really enjoyed the activity. We look forward to our weekly Pod Buddies activities and have found that they have a very positive impact on our pod community, as well as the students' french language skills. It's an exciting and unique program, that we are proud to offer to our FI students.
Please note that the Open House date has changed. I look forward to seeing you on September 30th, between 4 and 6 pm. Please bring your student with you, so that they can give you a tour of our classroom and pod. We're excited about sharing our learning with you!
Book Fair begins on Monday. Students will be looking at the books on Monday morning, and will bring home a flyer in their agendas. They may purchase books between Tuesday and Thursday.
It has been a terrific second week. We have a lovely work environment. Students work together, respect each others' need for a quiet workplace, and strive to complete every task with care. Thanks for your ongoing support of student learning. Have a peaceful weekend.
